Some recursion is fine and helpful when properly conditioned (this is essentially how reinforcement-from-AI-feedback works). Open-loop recursion without grounding in real data leads to the documented model-collapse failure modes.

The signals are sparse and expensive to gather, but they’re directly tied to outcomes the business cares about, and frontier-model APIs increasingly expose interfaces to integrate them.
